Dear divers and friends,

Once again I am happy to see that the tournament concluded very positively with a great improvement in the catches, the size of the fish, and the excitement level of the tournament in this year's Omer 2nd Annual Hatteras Open. With 43 divers coming from Canada, Brazil, Italy, Puerto Rico, California, Florida, Oregon, Wyoming, Montana, Conneticut, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, New Jersey, Virginia and North Carolina it would be an understatement to say there was a very diverse group of divers all sharing a common interest for blue water hunting and freediving.

It gave me great satisfaction to see such a group of great divers with good attitudes in a locale like Hatteras taking advantage of its great spearfishing potential.

This was only the second year of this tournament and the caliber of diving and catches increased ten fold over last year. Only the 1st place diver last year managed to spear three species while this year more than the first top ten divers did. We also had at least 10 fish over 55lbs this year compared to only one last year. I think you'll agree that it was a great move to have the tournament in July.

Next year I hope one of you actually manages to land a tuna to top off the list of top blue water species so we can do without the fish stories. Thanks again for coming and I hope to see you next year, clear waters, big fish, and safe diving to all.
